NoDisc version 0.06 (02 Feb 1999).
All code and associated data is Wag Software.

About NoDisc

This application is intended to improve the compatibility of many 4th
Dimension products (and also FedNet ones) by removing the StrongARM
incompatible encryption used to 'hide' the contents of their files. This
program also has the capacity to remove the key-disc code of the programs
which causes problems with older RiscPC disc drives.
It is recomended that you turn the copy protection option off if you are
having problems getting NoDisc to work with a program. Due to this task
being fairly complex there are still some programs which can cause problems
with it, causing the whole process to fail.
If you do not wish to risk the loss of any data then you should never use
this application on original copies of applications. Copy the application to
a hard drive and drag this version to the NoDisc icon. You will be prompted
if you are required to insert the key-disc once more (needed for copy
protection removal). It should be noted that once NoDisc has removed the
need to insert a key-disc each time the program is loaded, it not possible to
use this file from a floppy drive, and thus, attempting to run the converted
program from a floppy drive may fail.
Under no circumstances should this application be used for infringing the
copyright of applications. Software piracy is illegal, and destroys software
production.

Converting an application

To convert an application to one which does not have encrypted code you
simply drag the required application to NoDisc and then click on 'Convert'.
A status window will be opened and NoDisc will attempt to update the
relevant files.

Options for NoDisc

NoDisc provides a certain amount of control over how it acts over the
application being converted. The options for file shrinking involve how
the files are handled once they are processed, either the code is nulled,
or it is removed and a smaller file is saved. If copy protection code is
removed from a file then it is always shrunk.
The options for file scanning controls how thorough NoDisc is in scanning
the files to convert. Scanning all files is potentially dangerous as certain
files may contain data which is incidentally the same as key-disc code, but
would result in the data being corrupt rather than incompatible code removed.
When NoDisc scans for 'all' files, it actually checks types &FFC, &FFD, &FF8,
untyped files and all types less then &E00. Scanning for utility files will
only check for type &FFC.
